The Food by Julie Catering Company is a family run business located in rural West Berkshire, originally created by Julie in 1985. The company provides quality bespoke outside catering in West Berkshire and across the Thames Valley and neighbouring counties of Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hampshire.
As a company, we are devoted to providing a personal and individual service, whether we are required to cater for a Marquee Wedding, a Celebration Dinner Party or a Corporate Reception serving Champagne and Canapés on a river boat. We will be delighted to furnish potential customers with sample menus and as much information and advice as possible about what we can offer and look forward to getting involved in the more comprehensive planning process leading up to and beyond the event itself.
Style of Food & Menus
FBJ is passionate about food, and specialises in creating exquisite classic and contemporary dishes. We achieve this by selecting the finest quality ingredients and seasonal produce which can be sourced locally and we will always include organic foods as often as we can. We obtain our food from reputable suppliers, some with whom we have had a long standing relationship.
All of our dishes are skillfully prepared from scratch, so our menus may be tailored to a client's exact requirements, including any special dietary requirements . We also specialise in dishes from around the world and will be delighted to quote for a whole menu themed around a specific cuisine.
We also offer an Events Management Service when we will be delighted to discuss other elements of a function with a view to organising and providing advice on Staffing and Style of Service, China, Cutlery, Glassware and Tableware, Equipment Hire, Marquees and ancillary Equipment, Furniture Hire, Linen etc. Other areas where we may be of assistance might include Florists, Cake Makers, Musicians, Entertainers and Special Effects etc.
China, Cutlery, Glassware & Tableware - Linen
Depending on budget and/or personal preference, we can recommend different styles of china, cutlery and glassware and a variety of coloured linen is available in various sizes in addition to just plain white.
As part of the hire service, all equipment is delivered to a venue one or two days prior to an event in pristine condition and following an event, all of the dirty equipment is collected and washed up off site.
Prices and Quotations
We will be delighted to furnish potential customers with sample menus and an estimated cost based on the nature of their enquiry. A more detailed quotation will be provided following an initial site visit and meeting to discuss all aspects of the event and all the options available.
We will help with choice of wines, soft drinks, cocktails etc. and will be happy to refer clients to wine merchants, local breweries, trendy cocktail bars, sommeliers and outside bar facilities that we currently use. If we are required to supply the drinks, we will simply charge only for what is consumed plus glassware, bar staff and any extras relating to the service of drinks. Clients are welcome to supply their own drinks when we will charge only for glassware, bar staff and any extras relating to the service of drinks.
Every event will receive impeccable service by our trained team of smartly uniformed staff. Our staff are friendly, polite and efficient, and will be on hand to assist you and your guests during the course of your event. An Event Supervisor or Front of House personnel is generally recommended for weddings and larger events acting as a co-ordinator and ensuring that your event runs smoothly
The company is run by Julie who supervises all aspects of the business and is equally responsible for personally selecting all of the raw ingredients used in the preparation of all our dishes. Menus are frequently updated and are inspired by fresh and seasonal foods, local produce and innovative ideas including cooking influences and foods from all over the world. When planning a menu, we will be happy to adapt any of our dishes to suit a client's personal choice.
Inspired from the age of 9, Julie's early aspirations as a gifted cook developed into a lifelong passion. Choosing to experiment with classic dishes and the lengthy processes often involved in their execution precipitated in a wide knowledge of ingredients and cooking skills and enhanced confidence in the workplace.
Having gained a wealth of knowledge and experience catering for a range of corporate and private functions, in 1990 Julie qualified as a Professional Cook accomplished in culinary techniques and practices.
FBJ's main aim is not only to deliver superb food stylishly presented for any event, but to perfect and personalise it by paying particular attention to tiny detail so often overlooked. It is equally important to us that every individual client receives a seamless service which ensures that their every need is catered for.
